Book Journey: Holding Hands

Where, O Where is this Book?

Where a book is set is important. Sometimes the setting is as important as the characters. Holding Hands is mostly set in St. Louis County. I grew up in West County St. Louis in the town of Ballwin. Although I haven’t lived there for over 25 years. Still, it’s my hometown and there aren’t too many stories set in St. Louis County, so I thought it would be fun.

Elena’s Physical Therapy office is in the Creve Coeur area, close to a hospital. I spent several months in a physical therapy facility. So, I had practical experience in writing about the imaginary Advantage Physical Therapy.

With the utmost respect for the towns just outside St. Louis proper, I set Elena and her daughter, Jenna’s apartment in a generic rundown section.

Her church is about 30-45 minutes from her apartment in Chesterfield. I love the Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, outdoorChesterfield area. My grandparents lived there, and a lot of family. My dad used to dive off the bluffs when he was dating my mom. [No bluff-diving in this story. Maybe the next one.] Perhaps Micah will make the jump for Elena? We’ll see.

Stay tuned for Part 6.
