May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable before You,
ADONAI [the LORD], my Rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:15, TLV
Already Acceptable. We focus so much on what others think of us, don’t we? What we look like. Or what we say. We want to be acceptable. To fit in. But fit in to what? Or to whom?
Shouldn’t our focus center on being acceptable to God? Now here’s the great thing. As His children, redeemed by His Son, we are accepted. So, if we are already accepted, what if our focus becomes who He created us to be?
The thoughts that rule our tongue — and our fingers on our phones and keyboards — should be centered on our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Our actions, emulating His Son Yeshua. Then, finding our unique voice and purpose through the Holy Spirit. All these things are our priorities.
Maintaining that priority in the midst of chaos is not easy. That’s why I love this verse. It is a prayer and a reminder of where I should be when I lose my way. Because He is my Rock and Redeemer, and I am acceptable.
