Pleasant words are honeycomb—sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24, TLV
Sweet Talk. If you have followed my Proverbs devotions over the years you’ve learned as I learned, about the medicinal properties of honey.
That our Heavenly Father would allow something so simple and sweet to be good for us is a bit of the Garden of Eden in my estimation.
Recently, scientists have discovered that the buzzing of hives have medicinal properties*. Those busy bees doing what God created them to do can help ionize the air, the vibration is like a gentle massage, and other positive results—some are a little out there in their claims.
That’s a lesson, don’t you think? When we’re busy doing what God created us to do, others around us can benefit.
The environment plays an important role in the life of a bee. It is thought that technology as well as pollution has affected the poor little things.
How similar that little bee is to us. How easily distracted we are by the sound bytes and waves of voices. They can pull us from our purpose and destination.
But unlike the tiny bee, we have a Protector and Counselor. When we seek the Lord, He will guide and guard us through life’s challenges until we reach home. We can speak sweet words even when encountered with bitterness and anger. Sometimes people will respond positively, but just as often they won’t.
Remember we carry the word of eternal life (John 6:68) thanks to our Savior’s redemption. Words, like honey, that can heal.
Let’s not let the world keep us from sweet and medicinal words that can make a difference in others’ lives.
