To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to ADONAI [the LORD] than sacrifice. Proverbs 21:3, TLV

Prophetic Conduit.   Is this verse saying that God wanted Israel—or us—to do the right thing rather than follow His commands? No. This passage’s truth was also a conduit—a prophetic conduit.

When Yeshua became our eternal atonement for sin — our eternal sacrifice — it was so that we would desire to do the “righteous” things out of love, gratitude, and respect for our Heavenly Father.

It boils down to this, God wanted the law to be carved into our hearts, not just in stone or on scrolls. That we would one day be so grateful we would show it by wanting His will in our life.

This is the new Covenant prophesied in Jeremiah 31. The new Covenant Jesus ratified with His own blood — His sacrifice.

It’s not about either or, it’s about obedience springing up from our love and gratitude.

“But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days” —it is a declaration of ADONAI — “I will put My Torah within them. Yes, I will write it on their heart. I will be their God and they will be My people.” Jeremiah 31:32 TLV

The natural outcome of that gratitude and love was a heart to seek righteousness and justice. Yeshua both demonstrated and taught what that would look like.

In His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5-7) and the Sermon on the Plain (Luke 6), He gave a “Master Class” on how to live this out.

His ministry and actions demonstrated what this would look like. Proverbs was a prophetic conduit of the New Covenant to come. How amazing is that?
