Leave It Up to Dad. Many folks think this passage and the previous verses are all about money. Give generously “to the LORD” and He’ll give even more in return.
Why do we give things to get a return on our investment?
GOD has promised that He will bless those who give, but why is it about money or possessions?
With all the prayers being lifted on behalf of Israel are we expecting a blessing for ourselves because of Genesis 12:3?
My desire is to bless those who bless [Abram and his descendants], but whoever curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.
Here are my thoughts, for what it is worth. There is a song we sing during Passover called Dayenu — It Would Have Been Enough. It’s a fun song with an important message: God has already done enough for us.
“In your seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed—because you obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:18, TLV
Here’s a turnaround, because of Abraham’s obedience, the nations of the earth 
would be blessed. Abraham’s obedience meant blessings for us.
It’s true, isn’t it? Abraham’s “seed” would be Yeshua—God’s Son would be sent to atone for our sins. If our Father never did another thing, giving His Son for our redemption would have been enough! Through that atonement we can have a relationship with the Creator of the Universe—our Dad!
So, when our priorities are to give because we want God to give back, pray for Israel to get a blessing—especially at this time—I don’t know, it seems a bit selfish. Even self-serving.
What if we just tithed because God said to, not expecting anything in return? Give a donation in secret, just because God directed us to? Pray for Israel because it is commanded (Psalm 122)?
Generous Father
Listen, we have a generous Dad—there’s plenty of evidence of this. He loves showering us with blessings. Sometimes monetary. Most times not. But He does it because He loves us, not because we’ve figured out the right formula to get the best blessing. And if we’re only looking for monetary blessings, we’re probably missing all sorts of blessings He has given us.
Let’s give generously — money, time, love, prayers — and leave the return of blessing up to our Dad.
Please continue those generous prayer offerings on behalf of Israel and for the innocents caught in a battle of evil.
