The Fear Of . . . For those who read a chapter of Proverbs each day, it’s time to roll back the scroll! We’re already half-way through the year. Today is a new day — a new beginning. Our Heavenly Father will always have something new to show us, help us dig deeper into more insights, and remind us of truths we’ve forgotten.
Today’s proverb is especially significant to me. And I suspect many of my friends. The fear of _____. And here’s where we fill in the blank with those things that can keep us awake at night.
In this verse, it is the fear of evil, and in the world we live in, that is legitimate.
We may fear what evil might do to us. Some might fear that evil is stronger than good. But, if we follow that line of thinking, then we’re saying evil is stronger than the Creator of the Universe — our Dad. Nope. That’s not true.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for You are with me: Your rod and Your staff comfort me.” Psalm 23:4, TLV
Here’s where wisdom comes in. Wisdom teaches us how to think
Biblically, and therefore logically. Biblical wisdom supports faith and the prophetic and divine intervention because it comes from the same place.
“…These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have shalom. In the world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world!” John 16:33, TLV
Counterfeit Wisdom
The wisdom of the world is not the same as Biblical wisdom. In some cases, it defies it. In other cases, it counterfeits it. But, just because that type of wisdom is loud and appears more rational, it’s not when compared to thousands of years of the evidence of truth. The world’s wisdom tries to live outside the reality of the Universe’s Creator. Once you do that, well, everything rests on sinking sand.
“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” Matthew 7:26-27, TLV
Today’s Headlines or Today’s Proverbs
As today’s headlines generate that fear of evil, or any other “fear of,” let’s turn our eyes to the truth of today’s Proverb. Pay close attention to what our Father says and follow Him in faith and love and security. No matter what may happen.

As we watch the horrific scenes of war, it’s easy to become fearful, especially for those of us who have family and friends in Israel.
