She girds herself with strength and invigorates her arms. Proverbs 31:17, TLV
How Do We “Gird” and “Invigorate”? The Woman of Valor’s list of credentials is pretty intimidating, don’t you think? For those new to these blogs, you may not know that this list is her resume—a lifetime of work—not just Tuesday’s To-Do list. Hope that’s a comfort.
Her commitment to her family and who she is as a daughter of the Creator of the Universe, is the quintessential example of true wisdom. In other words, this is how true wisdom looks in the real world.
In this proverb, the woman’s secret to strength is discovered—actually, it’s not much of a secret when we live the proverbs. In fact, it’s pretty simple: she seeks those things that encourage strength.
After reading Proverbs daily for nearly 25 years, I know that reading is only the beginning. Living what GOD shows us are the simple, but challenging instructions He gives us so freely.
I believe it means living a healthy life of gratitude, worship, love, compassion, work, rest, good food, exercise, giving back to others, and a mind and spirit constantly swept clean of bitterness, unforgiveness, and sin.
Living a life that allows nothing to hold us down or back from all that we can accomplish in His Kingdom and our family. Hmm. Great reminder.
Think More About It
How do you gird yourself with strength?
Until tomorrow, may we all—brothers and sisters—seek to gird ourselves with strength.
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
ADONAI [the LORD] is the eternal God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not grow tired or weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives strength to the weary,
and to one without vigor, He adds might. Isaiah 40:28-29, TLV
Right now, Israel mourns those hostages discovered in the tunnels. They bring their remains to their families. Israel mourns the 11 children killed during a soccer game—innocents cut down by Hezbollah rockets. Are the people of Israel tired? Weary? Yes. But they know that cannot rest. May our Heavenly Father give them strength and vigor. God bless you.
