Daily Word: Does Our Speech Hold Value? Proverbs 10:20

The tongue of the righteous is choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little value. Proverbs 10:20, TLV

Does Our Speech Hold Value?     The tongue is capable of such amazing things (Isaiah 50:4):

“ADONAI Elohim [the LORD God] has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning. He awakens My ear to give heed as a disciple.”

The tongue is capable of such harm (Isaiah 3:8):

“…For their tongue and their actions are against ADONAI [the LORD], defying the eyes of His glory.”

How do we use our tongue? Does our speech give value, or does it rob?

We have the words of eternal life (John 3:16)!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

We know the miraculous, healing power of words. Words of hope and reconciliation. So, it is our responsibility to measure our words against that value. Season those words with prudence and the precious attributes of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Anything less holds little value.

Think More About It

What value is in our speech?

Until tomorrow, may we speak what is of value, my friends.

“He who belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you don’t hear is because you do not belong to God.” John 8:47, TLV

Frustrated by those who refuse to hear the truth? Those whose agendas are so intrinsically tied to what they believe is truth that they can’t check the facts—it’s almost as if they aren’t able to hear the truth.

Exasperating. But even worse, what if the reason is a far more serious one. Let’s pray that our Father’s family grows—that they would hear. Our Abba loves people and wants them as His children. We need His heart so that the words we speak hold value. God bless you and Shabbat Shalom!
