When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with dishonor comes disgrace. Proverbs 18:3, TLV
Do We Have a Role in the Fight Against Wickedness? Since the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began shutting down or severely fining manufacturing plants, we don’t really see those black clouds of pollution like we did when I was growing up.
No one thought it possible to do this. Many were resigned to keep on living in the pollution. These companies tried to convince the population that adding any measures to restrict pollution would increase their prices. Yet, scientists, medical folks, engineers, and people of integrity teamed together to prove it could be done—and it should be done.
What a great example of change that improves the quality of life for all.
Today’s proverb reminds me of those ominous hazes we can ignore or think impossible to change.
Wickedness can roll into our lives and families and towns and bring with it a contempt for what is holy and good. It dishonors the faithful at any opportunity. And devalues the innocence of our children or families’ homes and neighborhoods.
When the foundation of our beliefs is ridiculed in the name of political correctness or change that doesn’t improve the quality of life for families, then we must find our role in cleaning it up. It may seem impossible, but teamed together, we might be able to “clear the air”.
Our role might be as a(n):
- intercessor
- community leader
- neighborhood leader
- elected official
- teacher
- scientist, engineer, or innovator
- problem-solver
Whatever our Heavenly Father shows us, begin learning how to fill that role.
When issues begin to divide the children of the Most High, we must pause and remember — we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with principalities. That wickedness is a principality and those unwitting souls who allow it jurisdiction in their lives need our prayers.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
Remember who the enemy is, my friends.
Think More About It
Do you know what your role might be to “clean the air”?
Until tomorrow, may we be part of the solution, my friends.
…Instead, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all ways into Messiah, who is the Head. From Him the whole body is fitted and held together by every supporting ligament. The proper working of each individual part produces the body’s growth, for building itself up in love. Ephesians 4:15-16, TLV
When unity is operational miracles happen. And when love supports it, I think our Father and His Son smile. Let’s lift up our brothers and sisters in Messiah that we might be in unity—not as sameness, but united in our love for the LORD and each other. Then the world will know who He is (John 17:20-23). Because it will only be through the change of hearts toward Messiah that true peace will happen. God bless you!
