Daily Word: How’s Life? Proverbs 9:11

Terri GillespieDaily Word, Wisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs 2 Comments

For through me your days will be many and years will be added to your life. Proverbs 9:11, TLV

How’s Life?     Life has its challenges, doesn’t it? It’s just the way of sin. Life has its joys. It’s all in the way we live it.

The best way to walk out our journey is to follow our Heavenly Father’s instructions and where He leads us. His wisdom and direction are tailor-made for each of us. Yet, it is the same truth for all.

He knows the number of days of our life, just as He knows the number of hairs on our head. And, since He is our Creator, He knows what will truly give us peace and joy and love. So, I’m thinking He’s the best resource for us to make the most of each and every day of our life.

“So teach us to number our days, so that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12, TLV

“But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:30, TLV

Moving Again

Today, there are people packing up our house to make another move. And while I’m excited to be living closer to our daughter and her family, this was the house I helped design. I’ll be leaving behind friends and the fruits of my labor.

And I’m going to be okay with that. This is a challenge, but it is also an opportunity.

While I might lament over losing these gifts God gave us seven years ago, I also must put things in perspective. Nearly twenty plane hours from here, families are in turmoil. Many have lost family members and their homes because of terrorism. Their lives are in jeopardy. I guess that’s the context I need to place my challenges.

That and gratitude. Gratitude to meet and have friends I never would have imagined. Blessings. Leaving behind little legacies for others.

Still, I know my Heavenly Father knows. He knows the little cracks in my emotions that even now have me sniffing away tears. Because He knows, I will focus my attention on Him. That is the wisest thing to do, yes?

Think More About It

Have you had recent life challenges and changes? How has the LORD helped you walk through them?

Until tomorrow, may your days be many and rich in His blessings, my friends.

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear,
though the earth changes,
though the mountains topple into the heart of the seas,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains quake at their swelling. Selah.  Psalm46:2-4, TLV

Perspective. Context. These are important, but we’re not analytical machines—we’re humans. Humans with emotions and fears. Therefore, we need to remind ourselves that the changes and toppling and roaring and quaking may be around us, but our Heavenly Father is our refuge and strength and ever-present help. Pray that with me? God bless you!
