Daily Word: Collectibles Worth Acquiring? Proverbs 8:12

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and acquire knowledge with discretion.” Proverbs 8:12, TLV

Collectibles Worth Acquiring?     Do you collect things? Books. Bottle caps. Dolls. Antiques. Stamps. Figurines. Automobiles. The list can go on and on.

A true collector knows the value of each item and is willing to part with them when they are no longer capable of taking care of the item. Instead of risking damage to a collectible, the person will be willing to sell, trade or give it away.

A “healthy” collector does not allow the collections to cause negativity in the environment nor do they typically affect their relationships or lifestyle.

Collectibles can bring a person some measure of happiness. But it is temporary. Thinking we can pass on our collectibles to family members once we’re gone, does not always go well. If you’ve had to downsize a family member or yourself you may have already experienced that.

Eternal Value

Still, there is a collectible that we can acquire that has eternal value. Its value is transferable to others and is a legacy we can feel blessed to leave to our loved ones.

That collectible is wisdom and all she has to offer: discernment, knowledge, insight, and understanding. Our hope and prayer are that they treasure the legacy even more.

While there is little monetary investment, there is great investment of our time and commitment. But, as we’ve spoken about before, the return on investment is worth it.

Think More About It

Have you ever looked at wisdom as a legacy for those you leave behind?

Until tomorrow, may we acquire wisdom, my friends.

The plan of ADONAI [the LORD] stands forever,
the purposes of His heart from generation to generation.
Blessed is the nation whose God is ADONAI,
the people He chose for His own inheritance. Psalm 33:11-12, TLV

This is a good reminder prayer. Let’s agree together, my friends. Shabbat Shalom and God bless!
