…for [my words] are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Proverbs 4:22, TLV
Can Thoughts Affect Our Health? I had a fascinating conversation with a friend about a book he had read. According to Switch on Your Brain: The Key to Peak Happiness, Thinking, and Health, by Dr. Caroline Leaf, what we think about truly affects us both physically and emotionally. According to researchers, 75-98 percent of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life.
In fact, fearful thoughts trigger more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses in our bodies, activating more than thirty different hormones! Today our culture has a plethora of sources that can cause toxic thoughts. Left unchecked, these thoughts create ideal conditions for illnesses.
The author believes that GOD made our bodies to function, heal, and excel best when it focuses on the truths and wisdom, He gives us.
Specifically, the book explores the toxic thoughts that cause our bodies stress — they cause us harm because these thoughts conflict with GOD’s truth.
She uses science, Scripture, and real clinical experience that proves His Word.
How about that, science is only beginning to catch up with GOD’s wisdom!
Think More About It
Have negative thoughts affected you negatively? How do you avoid these thoughts?
Until tomorrow, may we find the Words of life and may they be health to our whole body, my friends.
Praying for Israel
In God—I keep praising His word—
in God I trust, I will not fear.
What can mere flesh do to me?
All day they twist my words.
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
They stir up strife; they lie hidden.
They mark my steps, eager to take my soul. Psalm 56:5-7, TLV
I chose this passage because it demonstrates both faith and fear. How many of us have conflicting thoughts—faith vs. fear. Imagine living in a war zone. Friends in Israel struggle with the realities and their faith. Today, let’s pray that their faith will be strengthened even in the midst of the battles around them. Yes? God bless you.
