Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 18:12

What’s your focus?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Before ruin a person’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. Proverbs 18:12, TLV

Have you ever seen someone who was so absorbed in what was happening on their cell that they run into walls or doors, or worse? That’s kind of like pride. We’re so absorbed in ourselves we don’t see others or the inevitable catastrophe ahead of us.

On the other hand, humility places less focus on ourselves, and more focus on GOD and others. Humility walks in gratitude. Humility focuses on our Heavenly Father who watches over us, even when we forget to look.

Sometimes, when challenges arise and we begin focusing on the trials we’re experiencing, we can become so myopic that we miss the solutions. Remembering to look up and beyond our difficulties can keep us from running into worse challenges. And, that’s a good thing.

May we walk in humility, my friends.
