Today’s Blog: Spiritual Food too Rich?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Every word of God is purified. He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Proverbs 30:5, TLV

Okay. I am embarrassed to admit this. But, I love those videos of parents feeding babies new foods. Those little faces scrunch up in disgust and maybe a bit of surprise. Then most of them spit it out.

Yuck!

It’s probably a combination of their immature taste buds and the food’s texture, but whatever it is, they just can’t quite handle it.

Some babies just take longer moving from only milk to solid foods. Which reminds me of this proverb and passages in 1 Corinthians 3:12 and Hebrews 5:12 and . . .

But solid food is for the mature, who through practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil.

HEBREWS 5:14, TLV

Can we handle our Heavenly Father’s pure word? Or does He have to dilute it. Or watch in amusement as we spit it out? In the early times, one of the greatest fears of the Children of Israel was that God would appear before them and they would die. His holiness and power would crumble their vessels of humanity and sin.

Imagine the power Elyon — GOD Most High — speaking the universe into being. Forming us from dust. Our finite brains can only handle so much.

He remembers we are dust . . .

So, because He remembers we are dust (Psalm 103:14), we who are covered in the blood atonement of Yeshua, have also received the beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides and counsels us in the pure words of our Father.

The Holy Spirit knows when we’re ready to — or need to — go from “liquids” to “solids.” If we pay attention, the Spirit will illuminate the word in ways we’ve never “tasted” before.

If we are willing, the Holy Spirit trains us in the word. The “poison” of deception is best rejected by understanding the purified truth.

When we study and live the word, we allow the Holy Spirit more access into our heart, mind, and daily life. We will be entrusted with the more “gourmet” meals that can only be handled by the sophisticated “pallet.”

So, I’m hungry. How about you? Hungry for the purified spiritual food waiting for us.

May we dine on His pure word, my friends.
