Today’s Blog: Owners or Stewards?
TODAY’S PROVERB: Precious treasure and oil are in a wise person’s dwelling, but a foolish person devours all he has. Proverbs 21:20 TLV
Do you like to antique shop? Ever wonder at what point a piece of furniture is considered an antique? It must be at least 100 years old! Which means that wardrobe or dining table must be well-constructed and well-cared for it to last that long. An owner of something that valuable really isn’t the owner because the furniture will last longer than them.
Hmm. Don’t you wonder how much of what we purchase today will out-live us? Maybe our dwellings — if they’re maintained. But, our televisions? Computers?
Today’s proverb reminds me that we’re really not owners of those precious items in our possession, we’re more like stewards. The truly valuable blessings will be passed on to someone else — hopefully our loved ones. They will “out-live” us and become someone’s inheritance. Our legacy.
If we are wise, we will care for these treasures. They won’t be consumable items, but cherished and cared for.
What about our legacy of faith? Because, our true treasure is our relationship with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus, isn’t it?
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in or steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
YESHUA, MATTHEW 6:20-21, TLV
May we steward our treasures wisely, my friends.
