Today’s Blog: Can You Tell Me How to Get, How to Get to the Strong Tower?
TODAY’S PROVERB:The Name of Adonai is a strong tower. The righteous one runs into it and is set safely up high. Proverbs 18:10, TLV
In principle, I understood today’s proverb. The LORD’s Name is our safe place — our strong tower. However, in a practical way, if you’d ask me to point to specific directions to get there . . . Well, I struggled for a long time.
As I was meditating on this verse for today’s blog, I thought about the time when my friend and I were held up at gunpoint in a mall parking lot. During the episode there was a peace that surrounded me. My friend was four feet from the young man and I, yet didn’t even know what was going on — her view was obstructed and she could only hear a few things I spoke. She even said that she didn’t move, didn’t turn to look even though she heard me speaking to someone.
Within seconds of seeing the gun pointed toward me, I had run to the Name of the LORD and I was safely set up high. How do I know that for certain? Because the moment the young man walked away in shame, that secure sense was gone. It took an hour of prayer to find my way back to that tower.
Only Where His Name is . . .
So, my conclusion, the tower is wherever the LORD’s peace and sacred place is. We run to it with our prayers and/or calling out to Him. And, we can widen that space to include others, especially when we’re in situations that call for His protection.
My son-in-love, nephew, brother, and others I know and love have what the government considers as essential jobs. I pray for them and for my friends who read these blogs that they run to the Strong Tower for protection and peace. To be in the situation but not overwhelmed by it. To have ready access to His wisdom and understanding.
The tower represents strength and safety. Being set up high means we’re above the fray — it doesn’t affect us as it would others. Or even in the fray, He is with us giving us whatever we need to journey through to the other side. He’s does this because He’s our Heavenly Father, and how He loves us.
May we run to our Strong Tower, my friends.
