May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable before You,
Adonai, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:15, TLV
We focus so much on what others think of us. What we look like. Or what we say. We want to be acceptable. To fit in. But fit in to what? Or to whom?
Shouldn’t our focus be on being acceptable to God? Now here’s the great thing. As His children, redeemed by His Son, we are accepted. So, if we are already accepted, what if our focus is to become who He created us to be?
The thoughts that rule our tongue — and our fingers — should be centered on our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Our walk, emulating His Son Yeshua. Then, finding our unique voice and purpose through the Holy Spirit. All these things are our priorities.
Maintaining that priority in the midst of chaos is not easy. That’s why I love this verse. It is a prayer, a reminder of where I should be when I lose my way. Because He is my Rock and Redeemer.
