Daily Word: Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2, TLV

Transformed not Conformed. This verse nestles within another memorable chapter. Paul instructs the Roman believing community to be transformed by the Creator rather than conform to the created. When this happens, it’s easier to hear His voice and follow His lead despite the insanity going on around us.

When we try to follow the norms of this world — which are always changing — we’ll never have a lasting peace. But when our mind knows what is good and acceptable to GOD, when we surrender to His will, it will be perfect, even when things are anything but perfect.

Be tenderly devoted to one another in brotherly love; outdo one another in giving honor. (vs. 10, TLV)

When we’re transformed by the Creator, we model ourselves after His word — the Word made flesh to dwell among us (John 1:14), is our example of how to live out our Creator’s word and will.

Today, let’s confirm our trajectory to be transformed by the Creator — our Father — and eschew the distractions of the created that differs from His word. Then, we’ll better know the will of GOD in our life. And that’s just perfect.

Shabbat shalom.
