“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture says, ‘out of his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” John 7:38, TLV
Rivers of Living Water. It was the last great day of the Feast of Sukkot — the Feast of Tabernacles — when Jesus cried out this quote from Isaiah and Zechariah.
For I will pour water on the thirsty land
and streams on the dry ground.
I will pour My Spirit on your offspring,
and My blessing on your descendants. Isaiah 44:3, TLV
Moreover, in that day living waters will flow from Jerusalem, half toward the eastern sea and half toward the western sea, both in the summer and in the winter. Zechariah 14:8, TLV
Yeshua was speaking of the coming of the Holy Spirit to those who believed in Him.
Now He said this about the Ruach [Spirit], whom those who trusted in Him were going to receive; for the Ruach [Spirit] was not yet given, since Yeshua was not yet glorified. (vs. 39, TLV)
Today, Jesus calls out every day for others to trust in Him, believe in Him, so that the Holy Spirit will fill them to overflowing. In this spiritually dry and thirsty world, we, my friends, have the words of eternal life. Words that quenches a thirst that can only be done by Him. Because we remember and know that moment when we knew we were loved and received, even though we felt unworthy. Felt the Holy Spirit and received Him as our Messiah.
Imagine someone dragging themselves from the parched land and you stand before a sweet, clean river, holding a cup of cool refreshing water. Those who reach are ready to receive, I pray we are there to welcome them, for just as we were helped, we can help them to that river.
