For we are His workmanship—created in Messiah Yeshua for good deeds, which God prepared beforehand so we might walk in them. Ephesians 2:10, TLV
Designed for a Purpose. We were created for a purpose. Isn’t that comforting? We were made for good deeds, yet our salvation doesn’t rest on them (Ephesians 2: 8-9). Isn’t that liberating?
Is it possible to ignore our purpose and destiny for our own pursuits? Unfortunately, yes. And no matter how successful we may appear to the world, inside we’ll never feel “right” because it is not how we were created. Something will always be off.
Similarly, we can seek an imbalanced approach to good deeds as though the deeds are what make us the masterpiece. Who we are — His redeemed children — is because of the sacrifice, the greatest good deed, of His Son.
Verses like this remind us of where we come from and where we are headed. Our priorities. They remind us of who we are.
If we forget, we can go back to when we were certain and lost our way. Then center ourselves in the foundational truths like this:
