“Behold, God is my salvation!
I will trust and will not be afraid.
For the Lord ADONAI is my strength
and my song.
He also has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2, TLV
Our Salvation. My readers sometimes ask why I love using Jesus’s Hebrew name, Yeshua. Sometimes I say, “That’s the name His mother called Him when it was time for dinner.” Cute. But the main reason is the root word for salvation in Hebrew is Yeshua, ישועה. Knowing that, when we read passages like Isaiah 12, seeing our salvation in the very words of these verses is profound.
It gets better. Let’s read the next verse:
With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3, TLV
Does that sound familiar? Remember Yeshua’s encounter with the woman at the well?
Yeshua replied to her, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!” John 4:13-14, TLV
How about this: On the last and greatest day of the Feast [this was the Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot], Yeshua stood up and cried out loudly,
“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture says, ‘out of his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” John 7:37-38, TLV
Our Savior, our Messiah’s very Name represents who He is to us: our salvation. We can take comfort in knowing He was promised for thousands of years, and His Father fulfilled that promise with His Son. Great comfort.
Shabbat shalom!
