Whatever you do, work at it from the soul, as for the Lord and not for people. For you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as a reward. It is to the Lord Messiah you are giving service. Colossians 3:23-24, TLV
Those selfless moments. There is that place where we give selflessly. Women who have given birth understand that moment where we must push with everything we have. Soldiers understand when they step into the line of fire. First responders understand when they answer a call that could mean their life. Teachers understand when a fifty-hour week is a luxury and walking into a classroom is a risk. But where are the ordinary moments of choosing to work from the soul?
These are the quiet moments, where no one but our Heavenly Father sees. They are the difficult moments when it would be easier to only do enough to get by.
They are the sacrificial moments. Small moments that seem insignificant. And large moments that seem impossible. Unloading the dishwasher or donating a kidney. Cleaning up trash in our neighbor’s yard or adopting a child.
All of these moments make up a life dedicated to serving the Lord. And when we have done it for the least of these, we have done it for Him (Matthew 25:40).
