Happy New Year, dear Readers!

Two banner events! An interview with one of my favorite authors, Lynette Eason, and the launch of my newly redesigned YouTube channel and Blog interviews!

Lynette is the USA Today bestselling author of Life Flight and Crossfire, as well as the Danger Never Sleeps, Blue Justice, Women of Justice, Deadly Reunions, Hidden Identity, and Elite Guardians series. She is the winner of three ACFW Carol Awards, the Selah Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award, among others. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has a master’s degree in education from Converse College. Eason lives in South Carolina with her husband and two children.

A Bit of Trivia About Lynette

All very impressive, yes? What some readers might not know is that Lynette is also a talented photographer. She says, “I’m a photographer who loves to show the beauty of God’s creation through nature shots and portraits.” If you’re in the South Carolina area, you should check her out, definitely her website.

Lynette’s Latest Book

A few days ago, Lynette released her third book in the Extreme Measures series, Critical Threat. WOW! The plot: A behavior analyst with the FBI puts Grace Billingsley in contact with every sort of evil and every kind of person. But working with the son of a serial killer? That’s a first!

Curious to know more? Let’s ask Lynette some questions!

Critical Threat is the third volume in your Extreme Measure series. What inspired the idea for this series?

Honestly, I never really know how to answer this question. I simply do a lot of brainstorming with different authors and friends, throw it against the wall, and see what sticks. There wasn’t any one thing that I can say inspired the series. Just a lot of great ideas during a brainstorming session that turned into this series.

Huh. It’s kind of like cooking spaghetti. You know it’s cooked right when it sticks to the wall.

What is the connecting element for all the books in the Extreme Measures series?

The four friends all met as teenagers in juvie on the West Coast.

Wow! Now that’s a cool premise, especially when the readers see how far these ladies have come.

Your main protagonists, FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley and prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe, must
work together to stop a serial killer. What is the relationship between them?

Grace is a behavioral analyst. She’s actually also a psychiatrist but uses her skills in a somewhat different way than Sam. Their relationship is one of mutual respect, lots of attraction, and a desperate desire to find a serial killer before he finds them first.

Sam’s father, Peter, plays a key role in Critical Threat. Can you please tell us more about his character?

Peter is a serial killer. He’s been in prison for a while, and Sam is very happy to never speak to the man again. Of course, as the story plays out, he has to not only speak to him but ask for his help.

Oh boy! Now that is tense–Silence-of-the-Lamb tense.

Your book has such a wide range of professions and expertise how are you able to write with such accuracy? Do you have sources that help you verify the accuracy of your books. Can you please tell us about some of your sources?

I have so many wonderful resources, but two of my main resources are my FBI buddies. One of them is a former agent, who is now retired. He reads each one of my stories and gives me feedback. For the medical stuff, I have two physician friends; and for the military stuff, I have yet even more friends. Friends are a great thing to have.

Writer’s Tips: Most of us writers don’t had FBI or physician friends. But there’s another method that can be useful. Use the resources you do know, then use the “3-degree method.” Your friend might know a friend, who knows a friend, who knows a friend who’s in the FBI or law enforcement agencies. Same applies to all sorts of professions. Have a story that needs a paratrooper? You never know who might be your best friend’s friend.

You have written over sixty romantic suspense novels. How do you come up with the ideas for your novels? And what do you love most about writing in this genre?

I tend to brainstorm with people and see what works. My editor is a fantastic brainstormer—and she knows what she wants to buy—so I often hash things out with her too. And, I love this genre because the good guys always win in the end.

Readers might not know that there will be one more book in the Extreme Measures series. Can you please tell readers when they can expect the final volume? And are you working on another series?

Countdown, the final book in the series, is set to release August 2023. I’m working on the first story in the next series. It doesn’t currently have a title, but it’s book 1 and will come out in January of 2024.

Woo-hoo! At least we don’t have to wait too long! Thanks, Lynette!
