We love, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19, TLV
There are some verses that carry a fundamental truth. Foundational. Like Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Today’s verse is one of those. This truth is at the core of how we came to love God — because He first loved us. We can extrapolate, define, dissect, analyze, but it isn’t any more simpler or any more difficult. The key element to seeding this truth in our hearts, is faith.
“I pray not on behalf of these only, but also for those who believe in Me through their message, that they all may be one. Just as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You, so also may they be one in Us, so the world may believe that You sent Me.
YESHUA’S PRAYER, JOHN 17:20-21 [EMPHASIS MINE]
In the prayer of Jesus to His Father, He prayed for His disciples, but also for us — those that we would come to believe through their message.
This passage today is steeped in sacrifice, history, prophecy, and abiding love. How can we doubt that?
