A soul who blesses will prosper, and one who gives water will himself be satisfied. Proverbs 11:25, TLV
Remember the shortages of toilet paper, paper towels, masks, and hand sanitizer? How many of us grabbed what we could out of fear, rather than necessity? Giving when it is uncomfortable for us and our families isn’t easy to do, is it? But, it’s the right thing to do.
There are already talks of another round of shortages by grocery retailers should the COVID virus spike again — as in some states in the northeast. The grocery stores feel they are more prepared, but there will be some items that would be difficult to supply.
We as followers of Jesus — as children of the Creator of the Universe — can approach these dilemmas with a different perspective. In wisdom, we can bless others. If we buy two giant toilet papers, give one to a neighbor who has difficulty getting out.
When we are in a state of compassion and generosity, fear is shoved to the sidelines.
I think, we’re all praying there won’t be more episodes of rude and hoarding behaviors — virus or not — but there might be. Don’t let it feed any fear within us. And the best way I know to do that, is to follow GOD’s instructions to give to others. That will ultimately satisfy our souls.
