If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9, TLV
Sometimes we forget that important step to forgiveness, confession. Confession means we recognize that what we did was not just wrong, not just a mistake, but a sin.
Sin. The thing that separated us from God in the Garden. The reason Yeshua had to suffer a gruesome and humiliating death.
For children of God, conviction of sin comes through the Holy Spirit. Conviction is not like rubbing a puppy’s nose in his poop. Conviction is holding our face to the mirror until we see.
Then, at the moment of our horror and remorse, He turns us away and hugs us into forgiveness.
But, if we don’t see, recognize, and repent, what happens? That sin grows in us until it becomes such a monster it brings legions of its friends.
Better to daily, or with each situation, deal with the issue.
Oh, how do we know what separated us from God, check out His word. It’s all there. And so is His love, grace, and mercy.
