Fight the good fight of faith! Take hold of the eternal life—you were called to it, and you made the good confession for it in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12, TLV
Take Hold of the Eternal. Wow. I love that: Take hold of the eternal life. Something profound in Paul’s instructions to his spiritual son, Timothy.
If we think about what concerned us when we were six years old, as opposed to today, then we understand just a tiny bit of the eternal perspective. What controls our thoughts and emotions today may not be relevant tomorrow. How life-changing it would be to take hold of our Father’s eternal perspective!
What could happen if we took hold of the eternal? Maybe:
- If we knew that the things we desire/pray for may take time, it might be easier to be more patient.
- Investing in others would be more common because we understand change won’t happen over time, but in GOD’s time.
- We can deepen our trust in our eternal GOD — our Father, the Creator of the Universe.
- As an example to our children, we demonstrate to them that they don’t have to have the newest, latest whatever because GOD may have something better waiting for us and we might miss it being impatient.
Perhaps taking hold of the eternal life is to keep the holy perspective. The things that are of God.
So when concerns control our thoughts and feelings, go back to the eternal. To what we made good confession. That God loved us so much, He sent His Son to die for us.
That’s a good place to begin. Knowing we have His love makes fighting the good fight easier. Besides, we were called to the eternal life. Yes?
