“What then shall we say in view of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31, TLV

A Reality Worth Checking.     Shabbat Shalom!     The Apostle Paul gets into some heady stuff in previous verses (vss. 28-30). Foreknowledge. Predestination. Before that he writes about hope and how the Holy Spirit intercedes and guides us (vss. 24-27).

The verses after today’s passage culminate in this: “Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?” (Romans 8:35, TLV)

Are we sensing a pattern? Getting the message? If God is for us, who can be against us!

If you are struggling today with a bad report, or you’re anxious over continual violence or politics, know this, nothing can separate from the love of Jesus. It is His love and His intercession on our behalf (vs. 34) that carries us through to our ultimate destination, a reunion of epic proportions in heaven.

Hope

We all need hope. Hope grows in faith. Faith comes by hearing of the word of God (Romans 10:17). Mark these passages (Romans 8: 18-39) with a highlighter (digital or real) and put a stickie note at its location. Read these verses the next time we get nervous or hope melts in the face of anger and sorrow. Then take that reality and fact check: If GOD is for us, who can be against us!

Prayer Prompt for Israel

And now, my Lord, what do I wait for?
My hope is in You.
Deliver me from all my transgressions.

Abba, Israel’s hope is in You. There is much controversy with her leadership. And no doubt there are transgressions in boardrooms and strategic military operations. Father, we pray that they identify these transgressions and repent. May this cause a breakthrough in peace. In Yeshua’s name.
