Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her meat, she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. She has sent out her servant girls. She calls from the city’s heights: “Whoever is naïve, turn in here!” To those who lack understanding, she says: “Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Abandon your foolish ways and live! Walk in the way of understanding.” Proverbs 9:1-6, TLV
A Feast or An Appetizer? Imagine that! Wisdom has prepared a feast for us. Eons of wisdom with practical applications from the Ancient of Days. All waiting for us to taste and see the Creator of the Universe’s goodness, mercy, holiness, and righteousness.
As we dine, we get to know our hostess better. Wisdom. Hospitality is her artistic medium. Because she has mastered the ability to translate the wisdom of the ages into digestible insights. Insights we can use every day in our marriage, relationships, business, raising our children, and so much more.
The more we partake — the more we dine — the better we’re able to learn how to host our own feasts on our Father’s behalf. Perhaps we begin simply with “appetizers” of wisdom. Insights we’ve learned that can nourish others. A taste that leaves them wanting more from Him.
Wisdom works hard . . .
Wisdom worked hard to prepare the feast for us. Providing bite-sized pieces for us to digest. In love. With humility. In profound understanding.
Granted we can’t emulate her aptitude completely, but we can provide bite-sized wisdom done in love and humility.
Think More About It
Have you ever served up a feast, or appetizer of wisdom? How did you prepare? How did it go?
