Daily Word: Before… Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us. Romans 5:8, TLV

Before…  Chag Pesach Semeach—Happy Passover! As we continue the Festival of Unleavened Bread (Exodus 13:6; Leviticus 23:6), I’m thinking of how our Messiah was our Bread of Life. In light of what He was about to do the meaning of that title has great insight into God’s plan.

But more than anything I was thinking about that phrase, “while we were yet sinners.” Who is the “we”? It seems to me that covers thousands of years, perhaps even more. What if that “while” is that time before time? In ADONAI’s [the LORD’s] omniscience, there is no time. As a writer, we are always thinking, “What if?” So before anything, He had a plan of redemption.

Before there was a universe . . .

Before there was a planet . . .

Before there was humanity . . .

Before we knew Him . . .

Before we cared . . .

Before we loved Him . . .

While we may have hated Him . . .

While we laughed at the things of God . . .

Our Heavenly Father proved His love before the creation of time when He put into play The Great Plan — the ultimate Plan of Adoption.

He knew that in order for us to freely love Him, we would first have to have the freedom to choose NOT to love Him. Or to know of Him or believe of His existence.

And the only way that Plan would work was if His Son was willing to die. To humble Himself and to be humiliated long before we even knew or cared that He did it. Cared who He was, is.

Finally, He knew that not everyone would choose to return so great a love and sacrifice. Yet, those sins were still carried to the cross. Jesus was burdened greatly by them all, and He still chose to do it.

So, when I am feeling sorry for myself that no one acknowledges me, or notices a good deed or two or three that I accomplished through God’s grace, I need to remember this. I need to remember to be grateful that my Father loved me so much He sent His Son to die for me — long before…

Think More About It

What is the most meaningful “Before” for you?

May we praise Him that even before He did it for us.

Praying for Israel—Prayer Prompt

Let the poor eat and be satisfied.
Let them who seek after Him praise ADONAI.
May your hearts live forever!
All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to ADONAI.
All the families of the nations will bow down before You.
For the kingdom belongs to ADONAI,
and He rules over the nations. Psalm 22:27:29, TLV

The Jewish people were a nation set apart to one day be a kingdom of priests (Exodus 19:6). To be a light to the Gentiles (Isaiah 42) so that those from the nations would grab ahold of the corner of their garment and follow after the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Zechariah 8:23). World redemption. Is it any wonder the enemy of our souls wants to eradicate the Jewish people?

Let’s pray this reminder that our Father’s ultimate plan is to bring the nations to His family. Amen? Chag Semeach and God bless.
