Daily Word: Bribery Deceives… Proverbs 17:8

A bribe is a charm in the eyes of its owner. Wherever he turns, he succeeds. Proverbs 17:8, TLV

Bribery Deceives…      Bribery is a form of manipulation. Manipulation deceives — even if the intentions are “good.” The manipulator has their own issues, but those who knowingly “take the bribe” have accepted the deception. Therefore, they are just as guilty as the briber.

A bribe can come in many forms: money, property, power, promises, or even revenge. Those who partner with a manipulator — even if it is to see real justice come to fruition — corrupt justice.

We can all be guilty of “padding” our case for justice, but whether we use people, power, money, or lies, it’s still wrong. Even if we are in the right.

If we win the day using bribes or manipulation, we’ve won nothing. We’ve, instead, lost something precious—our integrity.

Think More About It

Have we been the giver or receiver of a bribe that seeks to right an injustice? How did it feel?

Until tomorrow, may we seek integrity and to not be swayed by bribery, my friends. And in those inevitable discussions pertaining to Israel, may we seek to convey truth and not use manipulation. God bless you.
