If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9, TLV

Confession is Good for the Soul?       Sometimes we forget that important step to forgiveness: confession. Confession means we recognize that what we did was not just wrong, not just a mistake, but a sin.

Sin. The thing that separated us from God in the Garden. The reason Yeshua [Jesus] had to suffer a gruesome and humiliating death.

Like a Mirror

For the redeemed children of God, conviction of sin comes through the Holy Spirit. Conviction is not like rubbing a puppy’s nose in his poop or wee (which experts say is ineffective — and gross). Conviction is holding our face to the mirror until we see.

Then, at the moment of our horror and remorse, He turns us away and hugs us into forgiveness.

But, if we don’t see, recognize, and repent, what happens? That sin grows in us until it becomes such a monster it brings legions of its friends.

Better to daily, or with each situation, deal with the issue.

Oh, how do we know what separated us from God, check out His word. It’s all there. And so is His love, grace, and mercy. So, confession is good for the soul — and our spirit.

Praying for Israel

Then I acknowledged my sin to You
and did not hide my iniquity. I said:
“I confess my transgressions to ADONAI [the LORD],”
and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah Psalm 32:5, TLV

Why this prayer prompt for Israel? Because I don’t care how righteous this war is individuals will sin. And the guilt will pollute and cripple the spirit and soul. The prophet Daniel (Daniel 9) stood in the gap for Israel and confessed their sins. If you feel so led, please stand in the gap with me and confess those sins the Holy Spirit might bring to mind. Amen? God bless you.
