For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Proverbs 2:10, TLV
Do You Know What You Didn’t Know? Of all the wonderful chapters in the book of Proverbs, chapter 2 is one of my favorite. After a difficult disappointment or a devastation, my default is to retreat to my fortress of insecurities. However, if I read this chapter, it will yank me out of that funk and into my Heavenly Daddy’s reality.
There’s another translation that I enjoy, An American Translation, by the scholar, the late Dr. William F. Beck, BA, BD, MST, ThD. His translation of today’s proverb was a life changer for me back in the late 1980s:
Wisdom will come into your heart, and it will be your pleasure to know things. Proverbs 2:10, AT [Emphasis Mine]
I love that. Wisdom will come into my heart, and it will be my pleasure to know things. Sigh.
As we continue to walk wisdom, continue to read Proverbs each day, not only will wisdom come into our heart, but it will be our pleasure to just know things. Have you ever had that happen? You’re in a situation, a conversation, and someone asks a question, and out of the azure sky you know the answer. We know what we didn’t know we knew.
It’s what keeps my schnoz — my nose — in Proverbs. Those little moments—the gifts—that our Heavenly Father gives us to remind us this is a worthy journey.
Think More About It
What is your favorite chapter in Proverbs? How has it impacted your life practically? Have you had a moment where you didn’t know that you knew something amazing? Please share.
Until tomorrow, may we know what we didn’t know we knew, my friends.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers for Israel. God bless you!
