Daily Word: Do You Know Your Boundary Stone? Proverbs 22:28

Do not move an ancient boundary stone which your fathers set up. Proverbs 22:28, TLV

Do You Know Your Boundary Stone?     As my husband and I age, our parents have either gone on before us to our Heavenly Father or are otherwise engaged living this season of their life.

It occurred to me the other day that Bob, as the eldest son of his parents, and I, as the eldest daughter of my parents, will one day assume the patriarchal and matriarchal roles in our family. This is a sobering thought. We must be purposeful in discovering what that means for us and our descendants.

Choices

To begin with, we have chosen to live our lives as followers of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and His Messiah. We have chosen to walk wisdom’s journey. And in all things to do our best to walk in integrity.

Today’s proverb reminds us to also pass on those Godly boundaries.

Verse one of this chapter speaks of how living that life of faith, wisdom, and integrity brings honor to our fathers. To maintain that lifestyle and by teaching our children and children’s children is choosing to pass on our fathers’ good names.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great wealth,
and grace rather than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

In an ever-changing world, where boundaries shift on whim and evil purpose, maintaining the ancient boundary stone of those tablets given at Mt. Sinai is a great foundation on which to build. Yes, a very good place to begin.

Think More About It

Have we established a boundary stone? How have we established it?

Until tomorrow, may we keep the ancient boundary stone, my friends.

Praying for Israel

ADONAI [the LORD] is my portion and my cup.
You cast my lot.
My boundary lines fall in pleasant places
—surely my heritage is beautiful.
I will bless ADONAI, who counsels me.
Even at night my heart instructs me. Psalm 16:5-7, TLV

Ah, yes. This passage can be applied to many aspects of our life and journey. The same with Israel. Let’s agree together that the scope of these applications are pleasant and beautiful. Amen? God bless you.
