A poor man who oppresses the weak is like pounding rain without food. Proverbs 28:3, TLV
Does Oppression Leave a Scar? The need to oppress someone weaker is a cruel thing that grows and perpetuates in darkness and silence. This is why there is spousal abuse, child abuse, and animal abuse. It is also why some victims can morph into abusers themselves.
Whether the oppression is physical or emotional, oppression wounds.
Oppression leaves its victims feeling trapped, depressed, guilty, and angry.
If you know of someone trapped in an oppressive relationship or situation, and you’re not trained to handle these types of things, seek professional counsel. Only in rare situations can non-professionals intervene. However, by seeking help from a professional–clergy, social workers, police, counselors, medical personnel–the victim has a chance to break free.
Even if we aren’t professionally trained, we can support them with encouragement and prayer. For it will be a long road to freedom and healing. Will there be scars? Probably. But our Savior carried scars that have changed the lives of millions.
Think More About It
Has oppression left a scar on you? Is the scar healing/healed? Has your scar helped another?
Until tomorrow, may we help those oppressed, my friends.
He blesses them, they multiply greatly,
and He does not let their herds diminish,
after they were few and crushed
by oppression, calamity and sorrow. Psalm 107:38-39, TLV
May we join together to pray for blessings multiplied greatly and that Israel’s resources and infrastructure will not be crushed or compromised. God bless you!
