A stone is heavy and sand a burden, but provocation by a fool is heavier than both. Proverbs 27:3, TLV
Exhausted by Fools? Shabbat Shalom! Ever wonder why provocation by someone who doesn’t know any better is more exhausting than someone with an evil intent? Because it takes more restraint to respond to someone who is foolish. It takes more effort to discern if this is a teaching moment for them, or if it is something to simply ignore.
This proverb reminds me that I was once a stone and sand to my Heavenly Father — certainly to my parents and others around me. My learning curve was long just to get to the path of wisdom. Even now I can be a stone and sand. Sigh.
A good reminder when a foolish soul does something foolish to us, yet again, we were once heavy to others.
Think More About It
Were you a stone and/or sand? How did you learn that reality and how did you move forward?
Until tomorrow, may we be patient with fools, because He was patient with us, my friends.
Praying for Israel
Do not let the oppressed turn back in shame.
But let the poor and needy praise Your Name.
Rise up O God, and defend Your cause.
Remember how the fool mocks You all day.
Do not forget the noise of Your foes,
the uproar of those rising up against You,
ascending continually. Psalm 74: 21-23, TLV
Oh my. This is a powerful petition. Is it okay to remind the Creator of the Universe of His promises? Of His commitments to justice? No. I believe when we “remind” Him, we are affirming His truth—His promises—in our own hearts. So, let’s “remind” Him today. Yes? God bless and Shabbat Shalom!
