Daily Word: Following a Fool? Proverbs 14:7

Walk away from a fool—for you will find no knowledge on his lips. Proverbs 14:7, TLV

Following a Fool?    Ever participate in a foolish conversation? How long did it take before we came to that realization?

A “fool” is the opposite of someone who is wise or prudent. How they view the world may seem whimsical and naive or innocent, but that view can be at best distracting, at worst dangerous.

We expect children to behave foolishly, but adults modeling these behaviors can pull us into a time-consuming mess.

Living a wise life, we seek GOD’s will by seeking His Word and Voice. By living this way, our discernment becomes attuned to foolishness and those who “fool” us into engaging in it.

When our discernment flags raise, as diplomatically as possible, walk away. We don’t have to be arrogant or mean — simply excuse ourselves and go.

Perhaps — like us — the fool can learn and turn toward the Author of wisdom, our Heavenly Father. Studying and living His word enables us to avoid those foolish behaviors. So, if we can learn, so can others.

May we walk away from foolish encounters, my friends.

Let’s Think More About It

Have you ever been trapped by a foolish conversation and foolish people? How were you able to “escape?”

Foolish people at first can seem entertaining, but when we waste valuable time distracted by them, it is no longer amusing. Thanks for stopping by for the read. I love your comments and insights, and truly appreciate the share.

Hanukkah: Tonight, we light the last candle of Hanukkah, candle eight. Nine candles—even small ones—can put out some light. Did you know that a human’s eye is drawn to light—especially in the darkness? That even the tiniest flicker in complete darkness is beautiful. Perhaps that is why it is traditional to place the Chanukkiah next to a window so that the light can be seen outside, in the dark.

What a beautiful message to leave with us. No matter how small we think our light is, it can brighten a place of darkness. May others be drawn to that light! Happy Hanukkah!

Until tomorrow, thanks again, and please continue to pray for peace. God bless you and Chag Semeach.
