Daily Word: How Do You Secure Your Treasures? Proverbs 15:6

The house of the righteous has great wealth, but the income of the wicked brings trouble. Proverbs 15:6, TLV

How Do You Secure Your Treasures?     As a child of the Most High, redeemed by the sacrifice of His Son, our Messiah, we are wealthy beyond measure. Our true riches will last for eternity. These are the treasures that direct our heart.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in or steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:19-21, TLV

Secure?

A few years ago, a thief (or thieves) stole a check from our mailbox and began counterfeiting checks using our routing and account number. By the time I discovered what had happened (which was only ten days later), they had taken over $700 from our account.

My husband and I were blessed to not lose that money. We did lose a week’s worth of repairing the damage caused by someone using our account. Plus, we choose to make the trip to the post office to take our mail with checks or gift cards. Still we are very grateful that it wasn’t worse than it was.

We live in a world where the wicked can find ways of disrupting our well-ordered lives. As much as we’d like to think we can secure our possessions, we can’t. Nevertheless, we have a choice to live in fear or wisdom.

Earthly Treasures and Spiritual Treasures

Whatever earthly treasures our Heavenly Father gives us to steward, pale in comparison to the spiritual treasures He so generously gives to His children. That’s where our heart needs to focus. To remember this in the midst of loss. Especially during this season.

Others watch us. They are hungry for the wealth that only our Father can provide. My hope is that my life reflects the eternal wealth of my Father in me so that others may want it. The beauty in that is that they don’t have to rob or steal to get it. It’s free for the taking by anyone redeemed by His Son. And that’s a good thing.

Think More About It

What are your treasures? Are they secure?

Until tomorrow–hoping–may His wealth be plentiful in us, my friends.

Praying for Israel

Praise ADONAI [the LORD], for ADONAI is good.
Sing praises to His Name, for it is delightful.
For ADONAI has chosen Jacob for Himself,
Israel as His treasured possession. Psalm 135:3-4, TLV

Wow. Great prayer and reminder. The LORD has chosen Jacob–the Jewish people–for Himself. For those of us who are not Jewish don’t worry. We are grafted in (Romans 11). So let’s worship and pray this reminder. Amen? God bless you!
