Then you will discern what is right and just and fair—every good path. Proverbs 2:9, TLV

Indecision or Discernment?     Do you struggle with indecision? Or perhaps the opposite: do you struggle with making too quick a decision? Both can produce disappointing results.

Interestingly enough, both problems stem from the same issue: trusting our Heavenly Father for our discernment.

For most of us, the discernment muscle takes time to develop. Others seem to have a “gut feeling” and they are often right. But those times when they aren’t can be disastrous.

Over the years, I’ve watched folks who have an innate understanding of wisdom but don’t acknowledge this as a gift from the Lord. In fact, they don’t acknowledge Him at all. Having observed them for a long time I also noticed that eventually, they “lose” that gift. If, at some point, they don’t come to an understanding that they need to have faith in the Giver, the gift is taken away.

Whether we get those gut feelings or haven’t a clue, our source of discernment should be the same — our Father’s Holy Spirit. And we need to acknowledge the Father as the Giver because of His Son’s atonement.

Seek Wise Counsel

Seeking His wise counsel — and the counsel of those with experience walking Wisdom’s Journey — is prudent. It takes time. It takes trust that when we seek Father He will answer.

If He tarries in His answer, then wait. This is not indecision, it’s obedience, it is discernment. If He says, “No” then don’t do it. If He opens the door, walk through it.

It can be scary, but that’s where the trust muscle comes in. Need to develop that muscle? Don’t worry, walking Wisdom’s Journey strengthens all sorts of faith muscles. And that’s a good thing.

Think More About It

Are you indecisive or too easily make a decision without seeking GOD’s wisdom? How are you working through the problem?

Until tomorrow, may we discern what is right, my friends. Shabbat Shalom and God bless! Please continue to pray for Israel that their leaders will discern what is right.
