Daily Word: Isaiah 40:8

The grass withers, the flower fades.
But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8, TLV

The Warfare is Ended.  Believe it or not, chapter 40 was meant as a comfort to Jerusalem. That one day her warfare would be ended and her iniquity removed. As we mentioned yesterday, prophecies can have near future and far future intentions.

Speak kindly to the heart of Jerusalem
and proclaim to her
that her warfare has ended,
that her iniquity has been removed.
For she has received from ADONAI’s [the LORD’s] hand
double for all her sins. (vs. 2, TLV)

This morning, the phrase, “that her warfare has ended” resonated. When Yeshua atoned for our sins — in Jerusalem — the “her iniquity has been removed” happened. But clearly, her warfare continues even today. Yet, today’s verse says that GOD’s word stands forever.

Here’s what I was thinking. Before we became our Heavenly Father’s redeemed children, our souls were at war with His righteousness.

He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. (Matthew 12:30, TLV)

At our redemption — when we accepted Yeshua’s atonement for our sins as the Son of GOD — our warfare ended.

Yes, one day Israel will no longer be at war because the word of the LORD stands forever. Nevertheless, there is a spiritual component for each of us because it is possible to be at war with GOD in our very nature. Even as redeemed kids.

Being mindful to not fight against our Father’s will can only happen when we know His will. We know His will through prayer and by His word. Just something to think about.
