Though the mountains depart and the hills be shaken,
My love will not depart from you,
nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,
says ADONAI who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10, TLV

Shaken Peace? Is our covenant of peace shaken, today? Are the mountains and hills around us shaking so badly, we wonder if or how we’ll get through this? Our Father’s covenants are not broken. We may mess up and not live up to our end, but His covenants are eternal.

So, how do we navigate the shaking that rattles our faith?

“Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch out your tabernacle curtains.
Do not hold back—
    lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.” (vs. 2, TLV)

We step out in faith, not cower. He is in control, not us. If we listen carefully, He’ll tell us what the next step is. Should He say nothing, then wait until He does. That can be difficult with all the shaking, but when we remind ourselves that He is our Father and He loves us so much He sent His Son to take our place as our atonement sacrifice, it puts things in perspective.

Remember, all we have to do is talk to Him. Don’t know how to communicate the ache in our heart? Then worship Him. Even in tears of grief or anger or frustration, worship Him.

As sometimes happens between the Holy Spirit and me, I woke up singing the first line of this song’s chorus, over and over again. When YouVersion’s Verse of the Day — which I based these Daily Word devotions upon — appeared on my phone, I knew the refrain was my Father’s encouragement.

So, I leave you with the song He gave me, dear friends. I pray it encourages you.
