Daily Word: Making Room to Give. Philippians 2:3

Do nothing out of selfishness or conceit, but with humility consider others as more important than yourselves . . . Philippians 2:3, TLV

Making Room to Give.    We’re not the center of the Universe. It’s important to be reminded, don’t you think? There’s something liberating about doing for others just because. Just because God has done so much for us first.

Not long ago, we went through a particularly difficult time. Blended families that never quite blend, can remain so even after decades. When one of the family members passes, it can bring up a lot of unresolved hurts. Which is what happened.

Not only was it complicated but because we had to travel nearly ten hours to attend the funeral, we didn’t have the immediate comfort of our own home to process some deep-seeded hurts that followed.

Friends took us in and gave us a safe and loving place to take a breath. Our memories of the trying time had notes of compassion and kindness because of these giving friends.

They made room for us in the middle of their busy schedules and not only made us feel welcomed, but special.

Hospitality is much undervalued. It is a beautiful venue and opportunity for sharing the love of God selflessly. Even if it is to invite someone for a cup of tea.

And thank you Vickie and Hank for demonstrating how this verse worked in our life. 💖
