Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and shalom in trusting, so you may overflow with hope in the power of the Ruach ha-Kodesh [Holy Spirit]. Romans 15:13, TLV
May God Fill You with Joy! It is the eve of the holiday where millions—perhaps billions—of Christians celebrate the birth of the Messiah. Scholars differ on the actual timing of Yeshua’s birth. The only thing they agree on is that it wasn’t in December because the shepherds would not be tending their flocks outside in the winter.
So what, right?
My rabbi in Philadelphia once said that it was a waste of time to quibble—unless someone wants to seek. Why not rejoice that brothers and sisters around the world are celebrating the birth of the Jewish Messiah in Bethlehem, who came to redeem all mankind who accept Him.
I agree! And it is a good reminder to pray Psalm 122.
So, I’ll let this verse be my prayer for you, my friends. God bless you and merry Christmas!
