For the One working in you is God—both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13, TLV
Sometimes we just don’t want to do the right thing, do we? The thing that our Heavenly Father has told us to do?
And this is no random, “Do it because I said so” kind of work. It is a “I am trusting you to do the right thing because I believe in you and know you can do it.”
What I love about today’s verse is that Paul is telling the believers in Philippi, that the part of Him — the Holy Spirit — that He placed inside us is busy working in us. The Ruach HaKodesh (The Holy Spirit) is working 24/7 to help us to accept our Father’s will as our own. Because it is important that we do, especially these days.
Therefore, my loved ones, just as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence—work out your salvation with fear and trembling. (vs. 12, TLV)
Fear and trembling. That’s not just important, it is serious. The Holy Spirit will let us know when we’re off center. For me, I feel an angst and need to get my own way — even when I think it is God’s will. When that happens, I know I have to step back because I’m on dangerous ground and it’s time to check with the Holy Spirit and reset my course.
How about you? How do you know when you’re off course?
