…to deliver you from a seducing woman—a wayward wife with seductive words, who forsakes the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. Proverbs 2:16-17, TLV

Preserve the Covenants…     Infidelity. The last few generations tend to think infidelity was something they created. For certain they have developed it into an art form using film, music, literature, and now, social media. But the truth is, infidelity is as old as humanity.

Throughout Scripture and history, women have played as much of a role in this sin as men. Honestly, as women, we should know better.

These days, women tend to look at fornication and adultery as their rights — their choice. We can justify and defend all we want, but the truth is that it all boils down to this: our choice is whether we sin or don’t sin.

Not a popular thing to say.

Nothing New Under the Sun

There’s nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9). Humanity has been sinning since the Garden. And infidelity has the same patterns and outcomes as it did thousands of years ago. It defiles our souls, bodies, relationships, communities, and our relationship with GOD.

For those who chose to sin and feel the Holy Spirit’s conviction, there are choices. A marriage restored can be a powerful witness on behalf of God’s way. Only He can do that and we can be grateful for a Heavenly Father who seeks to heal and build.

In each generation we have a choice to be a voice of righteousness, or a clarion of sin. We can speak in many ways: publicly and by lifestyle.

Our marriages can be examples of love and joy or shame and pain. Our most influential audience — those who witness in practice what we’re saying about fidelity — are our children.

Do our children believe what we preach? Do they see it lived out at home?

Coming Generations

If the coming generations have seen and experienced the joy and wonder of fidelity, they are much more likely to look for that standard for themselves. They’re more likely to support and promote it, too. Why? Because they lived the truth with us. And that’s a precious thing.

Think More About It

How has living fidelity and truth impacted those around us? Have others impacted us?

Until tomorrow, may our voices be heard in this and coming generations, my friends.

His heart is secure, he will not fear—
until he gazes on his foes.
He gives freely to the poor.
His righteousness endures forever.
His horn is lifted high in honor.
The wicked will see it and be indignant.
He will gnash with his teeth and waste away.
The desire of the wicked will perish. Psalm112:8-10, TLV

How does one maintain honor in a war? I don’t know, except perhaps remembering the poor. Remembering their own humanity and that they were created in the image of God. Today, I’m praying for Israel’s leaders—political, military, and ministers—that they remember who they were created to be. To not lose their humanity in the brutality of war and hatred. Amen? God bless you.
