The Torah of Adonai is perfect,
restoring the soul.
The testimony of Adonai is trustworthy,
making the simple wise. Psalm 19:8[7], TLV
“Making the simple wise.” Who does that sound like? King Solomon? But, who wrote this psalm? This psalm was written by King David, Solomon’s father. Ah! Now, this makes sense.
After over twenty years of regularly reading Proverbs and twice the years reading the book of Psalms, I’ve learned that King Solomon came by much of his wisdom through his father. Many of the David’s psalms read like proverbs because he was wise and taught his son.
When I was a son to my father,
King Solomon to his son — and to us, Proverbs 4:3-5, TLV
tender and special to my mother,
he taught me and said to me:
“Lay hold of my words in your heart,
keep my commands and you will live!
Get wisdom! Get understanding!”
A Precious Legacy
One of the most precious legacies we can leave, is a greater understanding of God’s word than we ever knew. Whether through our children of those we have taught or impacted, we can sow into someone a great seed that the Holy Spirit will use in a powerful way. Ways we could never imagine.
The words and deeds we live in our faith journey are part of our legacy. What we will be known by. I’ve accomplished many feats, by God’s grace and for His glory. I’ve also failed miserably and made horrid mistakes.
My hope and prayer is that in the sum of my life will be some kernel my Heavenly Father can use for His kingdom. Something pure and untainted by my own will and design. A lesson for others to build on or salt that makes them thirst for more.
How about you, my friends? What is your precious legacy? I would love to know.
