As iron sharpens iron, so a person sharpens the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17, TLV
Ready for Some Sparks? If we are, if we’re truly ready to learn from one another, there are a few questions to ask ourselves. Ready?
Here we go:
- Do we trust one another as brothers and sisters of our Heavenly Father to be challenged to a deeper understanding of God’s truth?
- Have we sharpened our listening skills?
- Are we teachable, especially when someone has lived a reality we only understand in theory? Allowing that person to share the depth of that experience and be silent?
- Can we see past the emotions of pride, guilt, or insecurity and allow a brother or sister to reveal our mistake or sin?
- Will we humble ourselves in compassion so that we can teach another what seems obvious to us?
Then we’re ready to be sharper than any double-edged sword. Together.
