“You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you don’t expect.” Luke 12:40, TLV
Stop the Guessing Games. I have a couple of pet peeves and if what I say next, offends you, please love me anyway. Here’s the Bible-honest-truth: No one knows when Jesus will return except His Dad — not even Jesus. There I said it.
But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven nor the Son, except the Father alone. (Matthew 24:36, TLV)
But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven nor the Son, except the Father. (Mark 13:32, TLV)
Today’s verse in Luke is nestled within another series of lessons, in particular a parable about the “manager.”
And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master will put in charge of his servants, to give them their food portion at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whose master finds him so doing when he comes. Truly I tell you, his master will put him in charge of all his possessions. (vss. 42-44, TLV)
This is interesting because Yeshua first tells the people that no one knows when He will return. Then He says: Get to work! No matter how long the Father holds His Son back from returning, we need to be doing the work of Jesus. So many well-meaning souls spend years studying to try to riddle out what only the Father knows. Meanwhile, lives are being lost to the enemy and GOD’s people are starving.
So, why waste time trying to figure out when our Savior will return? Or even whether it is pre-, post-, or mid-tribulation, let’s get busy doing what our Father called and designed us to do. Feed the people — spiritually and physically. Be good stewards of what belongs to GOD — which is everything. And, of course, be faithful and wise.
That should keep us plenty busy — so busy we won’t spend time with guessing games.
Chag Semeach!
P.S. Still love me?
