And I heard every creature in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea and everything in them, responding,
“To the One seated on the throne
and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor
and glory and power forever and ever!” The Revelation 5:13, TLV
Glory to the Lamb! The book of Revelation is not a favorite of mine. Mostly because folks have preached, written books, produced movies, and lectured so many different interpretations — all believing they are correct — that it becomes confusing. But this verse, yes, this verse is very clear.
Let’s set the scene. Standing before the throne of our Heavenly Father, is the Lamb. Gives me goosebumps.
And I saw in the right hand of the One seated upon the throne a scroll, written on both the front and the back, sealed with seven seals. (vs. 1, TLV)
The Creator of the Universe holds a scroll in His right hand … [Okay, I keep saying I’m going to do a study on the “right hand” I need to do that, it is significant.] Anyway, GOD holds the scroll with seven seals and an angel asks who is worthy enough to take the scroll from the Almighty and open it (vs. 2)?
Crickets — silence. No one steps forward. Poor John who is witnessing this prophetic event, weeps (vs. 4).
Then one of the elders tells me, “Stop weeping! Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed—He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” (vs. 5, TLV)
Great worship ensues as the Lamb — John’s own Messiah, rabbi, and friend — receives the scroll from His Father (vss. 6-8). Then a new song John has never heard is sung (vss. 9-10). At this point John notices there are countless angels, creatures, and the twenty-four elders (vs. 11). They begin chanting:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and riches
and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!” (vs. 12b, TLV)
By this time, if I were John, I would be a puddle of emotion on the street of gold.
Now comes today’s verse. The day will/has arrived when every person and creature proclaims that Yeshua is worthy of praise for all He has done for us. Our Father who sits on the throne is worthy of all praise for who He is and His great love.
No confusion there.
Glory to the Lamb! For He is worthy!
