“Be still, and know that I am God.
I am exalted among the nations.
I am exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:11[10], TLV
Too Busy? It’s difficult to be still sometimes, isn’t it? Especially with demands and deadlines and challenges that never seem to end. As we enter a new year, these initial days and weeks can be a time to set a precedent for the coming year. What if we purposefully examined our priorities? That’s worthwhile, but …
What if this is when we discover how or purposefully be still in God’s presence? Perhaps just a moment where we can be centered in His will. Or even discover what His will is for the next step or decision.
Or to simply be reminded that He is the great and awesome Creator of the Universe — and we’re not.
Gratitude
Want to know how to be still? For me, it begins with gratitude. My daughter and I were talking the other day about how important it is to just be, with a heart a gratitude. As someone who struggles with anxiety, being still in gratitude is a treasure. Who knew it was a choice and available to me at any moment.
Then taking the next step to be still and listen. Pausing.
Today, and in the days ahead I plan to take those moments to be still so that I can remember — know — that He knows how things will work out. And they work out victoriously—in His time and His way.
Think More About It
How do you “be still” and does it help you know that He is God? I’d love to hear how you take that time?
Until tomorrow, may we be still.
Pray for Israel
For the music director, on Jeduthun. A psalm of David.
My soul, wait in stillness, only for God—
from Him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress—I will never be moved. Psalm 62:1-3, TLV
Another great declaration passage for us as we pray for Israel. Let’s declare it out loud! Amen! Praise the LORD! God bless you!
